‘Avula’ (Ah-voo-la) is derived from the traditional African Zulu word for ‘open’. ‘Green‘ (gri:n) of the colour of growing foliage between yellow and blue in the spectrum, is also historically and cross-culturally symbolic of life and growth. ‘Kalahari’ (Ka-la-har-ee) is derived from the Tswana African language word ‘Kgala’ (kah-ghala) meaning ‘great thirst’.
